GG1 4913 – A Locomotive’s Journey is the story of Andrea Vibbert’s heroic efforts to save GG1 4913 from the scrap yard. Tracing the lives of both Andrea and the amazingly durable engine, the reader is taken on a train ride through time that ultimately leads back home to Altoona, Pennsylvania. The book is the first in a series to be published by the Altoona Railroaders Memorial Museum. The author, Bill Deasy has an impressive background as a musician and as songwriter. Bill Deasy has appeared as an opening act for artists such as Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, Patty Griffin, and others. His songs have been recorded by a wide array of artists including country superstar Martina McBride, Billy Ray Cyrus, and others. In August of 2006 Bill Deasy added "published author" to his list of accomplishments with the release of his first novel, "Ransom Seaborn,” which went on to receive the 2006 Needle Award. We are excited to have his first non-fiction book, "GG1 4913 - A Locomotive's Journey" available to our railroad fans! You can purchase an autographed copy of this fabulous book in the Altoona Railroader's Memorial Museum or you can purchase it from our online store. You can have your book personally autographed by the author Bill Deasy at one of his local book signing events.
